Where do you need cover?

Cheerleading Travel Insurance

Your team. Your routine. Your next adventure.

Taking your cheerleading on tour?

A trip with your club, a county team performance or an amateur competition abroad - there's plenty to look forward to. We can cover purely amateur cheerleading competitions and cheerleading for your club or county. Just choose the Activity Pack that matches your routine. If you're representing your country, such as Team GB or England, we can't cover you.

Will your routine include stunts?

That's the main thing to check when choosing your Activity Pack. Cheerleading without stunts is included in our standard Traveller Activity Pack. If your routine includes stunts, add the Adventure Pack when you get your quote.

A quick guide to choosing your cover
Your plans What you need Good to know
Cheerleading without stunts Traveller Activity Pack Included as standard.
Cheerleading with stunts Adventure Pack Add it when you get your quote. It costs extra.
Purely amateur competitions, club or county cheerleading The right pack for your routine These can be covered. The policy terms still apply.
Representing your country, such as Team GB or England We can't cover this Choosing an Activity Pack doesn't change that.
Paid or professional cheerleading A chat with our team first Don't assume the amateur arrangements apply.

The Adventure Pack costs extra, so remember to select it and check it appears on your Validation Certificate. If you've chosen Extreme or Ultimate, Adventure activities are included too.

Not sure how your routine fits the activity list? Tell us what you'll be doing and we'll help you check. Think about practice sessions as well as the performance itself. You can also browse the full activity list.

Heading to a cheerleading competition?

Purely amateur competitions are fine, as is cheerleading for your club or county. Choose the right Activity Pack for your routine, including any stunts you will practise or perform.

What we can't cover is representing your country. That includes teams such as Team GB or England. An overseas trip with your club or county is different from taking part as a national representative.

If you're not sure where your event fits, send our team a message or call +44 20 3822 0200. Please also speak to us if your participation is paid or professional, rather than purely amateur.

Look after the rest of your trip, too

There's more to the trip than the routine: flights, somewhere to stay and perhaps a little sightseeing afterwards. Compare True Value, Traveller and Traveller Plus to find the level of travel cover that suits your plans.

Our policies include emergency medical and repatriation cover of up to £10 million for UK residents, or €10 million for European residents. The usual policy conditions apply, so tell us about medical conditions when you apply and check the benefits and excesses.

It's worth checking cancellation cover too. It covers the reasons listed in the policy, so an organiser cancelling a competition doesn't automatically mean all your travel bookings or entry fees can be claimed.

Off to the USA?

Make sure your area of cover includes the USA. Our Worldwide excluding USA/Canada option is different from the one that includes them. Check any stopovers and other countries you will visit along the way.

Choose dates for the whole trip, including a holiday before or after your cheerleading plans. And if you're squeezing in other adventures, check those activities too.

Sorting things out for a younger cheerleader?

If you're a parent or guardian arranging cover, check the traveller's name, dates, destination and activities carefully. Don't assume your own policy automatically covers every child travelling with the team.

Planning for several people? Have a chat with us about your group. We'll need to know who is travelling and what they will do. An accompanying parent, an amateur cheerleader and a professional coach may need different things considered. Personal travel insurance shouldn't be treated as cover for running a club or event.

What about your uniform and belongings?

Baggage cover is optional. Add it if you need it, and check the overall limit, the limit for a single item and the excess. Keep receipts or other proof of ownership for the things you take.

There is an important difference between belongings in your bag and sports or activity equipment being used. The policy excludes sports or activity equipment while in use, apart from its stated Winter Sports exception. If you're unsure about a uniform or a particular item, ask us rather than assuming it's covered in every situation.

A few things to do before you go

Check your travel dates, destination and Activity Pack, then read your documents to make sure the cover matches your plans. Remember: purely amateur competitions and club or county cheerleading can be covered, but representing your country cannot.

Once you've bought your policy, sign in to My TT Policy and go to "View documents" to download your Insurance Card to your Apple or Android device. No SIM card? You can still call AXA Assistance over Wi-Fi using the card in your digital wallet. AXA doesn't accept WhatsApp calls.

Keep your policy details handy while you're away. If you need help, follow the medical assistance or claims instructions so you know who to contact and what to keep.

Ready to get your trip sorted? Use the quote form above and choose the right Activity Pack for your routine. If you need a hand, our team is happy to help. Please check the benefits, limits and excesses before buying, and make sure your chosen options are shown on your Validation Certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I get travel insurance for cheerleading abroad?

Yes. We can cover purely amateur cheerleading competitions, as well as cheerleading for your club or county. Choose the right Activity Pack for your routine and check the policy terms. We can't cover you when you're representing your country, such as Team GB or England.

  • Do I need extra cover if my routine includes stunts?

Yes. Cheerleading without stunts is included in the standard Traveller Activity Pack. If your routine includes stunts, add Adventure when you get your quote. Extreme and Ultimate include Adventure activities too. Check that your chosen pack is shown on your Validation Certificate.

  • Are amateur cheerleading competitions covered?

Purely amateur competitions can be covered, including cheerleading for your club or county. You'll need the right Activity Pack for your routine, and the policy terms still apply. We can't cover you when representing your country, for example Team GB or England.

  • What if I'm representing Team GB or England?

We can't cover you when you're representing your country. That includes Team GB or England, even if you're taking part as an amateur. Cheerleading for your club or county is different and can be covered with the right Activity Pack.

  • I'm not sure whether part of my routine counts as a stunt. What should I do?

Just ask us. Tell us about the full routine and any practice sessions you have planned. The activity list separates cheerleading with and without stunts, but it doesn't classify every individual move. We'll help you check rather than leaving you to guess.

  • Can I arrange cover for my child?

If you're a parent or guardian arranging cover, check how your child is included and make sure their name, dates, destination and activities are correct. Don't assume an adult's policy automatically covers them. Ask us if you need help with the application.

  • Can you help with insurance for our team?

Yes, get in touch and tell us who is travelling and what you'll be doing. Everyone needs suitable cover for their own plans. Don't assume one person's policy covers the whole group, or that an amateur cheerleader and a professional coach have the same requirements.

  • Which cover should I choose for a trip to the USA?

Choose an area of cover that includes the USA, and check any other destinations or stopovers. Worldwide excluding USA/Canada is a different option. Your insurance dates should cover the whole trip, including any holiday before or after the event.

  • What happens if I get injured while cheerleading?

Medical treatment may be covered if your activity and trip are insured and you meet the policy conditions. That's why it's important to choose the right Activity Pack and tell us about medical conditions when applying. Follow the emergency medical instructions if you need treatment, and check the limits and excesses in your documents.

  • Can I claim if the competition is cancelled?

Not automatically. Cancellation cover applies to the reasons listed in your policy. An organiser calling off an event doesn't necessarily mean you can claim for every travel booking or entry fee. Check the wording or ask us about your plans before relying on that cover.

  • Are my uniform and cheerleading equipment covered?

Baggage cover is optional and has limits, excesses and exclusions. Sports or activity equipment isn't covered while in use, apart from the policy's stated Winter Sports exception. Ask us about particular uniforms or items if you're unsure; don't assume everything in your bag is covered in every situation.

  • Can I use an annual policy for several cheerleading trips?

Check that each trip fits the annual policy's destination and trip-length limits, and choose the Activity Pack you need. A long continuous trip is different from several separate trips. Amateur club or county cheerleading can be covered; representing your country cannot.

  • I've already left home. Can I still buy cover?

Eligible travellers can apply for a new Single Trip policy by selecting Already Travelling. There are restrictions during the first 48 hours, and we can't cover things that have already happened. Read the purchase notice and check that you have the right cheerleading Activity Pack.

  • How can I call AXA if I don't have a SIM card?

Use the Insurance Card in your digital wallet to call over Wi-Fi. To download it, sign in to My TT Policy, choose "View documents" and save the card to your Apple or Android device. AXA doesn't accept WhatsApp calls. Follow the medical instructions in your documents if you need urgent help.

Your True Traveller Policy is insured by Inter Partner Assistance S.A., which is part of the AXA Group, one of the world’s largest insurance companies.

Insurer

Already Travelling – No Problem

If you've already started travelling, your previous insurance has expired or you forgot to arrange cover before departure, you can apply online for a new Single Trip policy. Special conditions apply, including limited cover during the first 48 hours after purchase.

Do however note, if you have already lost an item of baggage, have already seen a medical professional or are feeling ill or have been injured and about to see a medical professional, then we can’t help. Insurance is there to assist you in the event that something may happen, not for things which have already happened.

92 Activities as standard

The standard Traveller Activity Pack includes 92 activities, including bungee jumping, horse riding, safari touring, scuba diving to 18 metres and trekking up to 3,000 metres. Some activities have specific conditions or restrictions.

For more adventurous activities, you can select the Adventure, Extreme or Ultimate Activity Pack. The Adventure Pack includes trekking up to 4,600 metres, while the other packs offer additional activities subject to their individual conditions.

Please check the full activity list and conditions before choosing your Activity Pack. For trekking in Nepal, you must also select the Trekking in Nepal option.

24/7 Medical Assistance Service

If you have an accident on your trip and end up in Hospital, AXA Assistance has a team of multi-lingual staff and medical professionals on duty, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can call them from overseas on +44 20 7985 7446, or if you’re in the USA or Canada, you can also call toll free on 1 800 986 6380.

They will be able to assist you and get your medical bills paid, and in cases where it’s medically necessary, arrange to fly you back home for further medical attention.

Choose your Activity Pack

The Traveller Pack is included as standard on all our policies. However you can upgrade to more adventurous activities to ensure you are covered when undertaking these activities. If there’s an activity not listed, just contact us and we will see if we can get it included for you.

Are you already travelling?

Can I take out this Insurance if I’m already abroad?

If you are normally a resident of the UK or Europe and are already travelling, you may apply online for a new Single Trip policy. You cannot claim for anything that has already happened or for any circumstances that could give rise to a claim which were known when you purchased the policy.

During the first 48 hours after purchase, medical cover is limited to a serious injury resulting from an accident that can be verified by an independent witness. There is no cover for baggage, money or travel documents during this period. Illnesses, injuries or symptoms that already exist, or begin during the first 48 hours, are not covered then or later in the trip.

Please note if you are already travelling, you MUST select this option otherwise your Policy is not valid.

If I take out Insurance and get ill, where will I get repatriated to?

In the unlikely event of this happening, you will be repatriated back to your home country as long as the appropriate geographic premium has been paid and it has been agreed by the 24 hour Emergency Medical Assistance Service.

Please Note: The above FAQs are subject to the full policy terms and conditions which we suggest you read to ensure you are happy with the cover you elect to arrange.

Where do you normally live?

Your Country of Residence is the country where you:

Note if you have recently been travelling, we do not have any minimum residency requirements. This means, for example, if you are a British Passport holder and have right of abode in the UK, we are not concerned as to how many months in the past year you have been in the UK provided at the time of arranging this insurance you fulfil all the requirements as set out above.
